Strings only: two guitars and a double bass.
Tritane bundles together three Limburg musicians who really fell for Gypsy Jazz. As it should in this genre, the line-up consists of strings only: two guitars and a double bass. But the trio also promises to experiment outside the contours of gypsy jazz.
Dominique Nelis had already performed in numerous bands before he decided to make a living from it. He studied at the TIL in Antwerp, plays and teaches rock, pop, jazz and classical guitar. For about ten years he’s also been playing Gypsy Jazz, in which he combines Django Reinhardt elements with other styles.
Tim Finoulst graduated summa cum laude at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp in 2010, followed a whole series of master classes with renowned jazz masters, performed in 2009 at Jazz Middelheim and won the Dinant Leffe Jazz Contest in 2013 with Kim Versteynen. In addition to his musical projects, he teaches today, among others, at Musart! in Hasselt.
Rob Vanspouwen studied guitar under the guidance of Jan Formannoy at the Conservatory of Maastricht and obtained his Bachelor in 2003. He returned to the Conservatory of Maastricht many years later to obtain a Master in jazz double bass, guided by Philippe Aerts. Rob was for nine years a freelance sound engineer, during which he worked with many national and international artists. He has now taken a pause to fully concentrate on composing and performing music, but he will undoubtedly return one day to the mixing table. In addition, Rob teaches guitar, double bass and music theory in Tongeren, he is the programmer of Bilzen Jazz and he plays in various projects of the professional collective "De Muzikanten", of which he is the founder.
